Its still not clear to me that an E34 M5 is what you are looking for. The cars have a lot of weight over the rear tires. Heck, they have a lot of weight period. Plus, the come with a lot of understeer built into the suspension, a legacy from their more mundane siblings.

So for touring and a commute without a lot of stop and go, yes. Track, maybe. Power slides, no.

Have you looked at the M3? With a supercharger, might be just the ticket.
