Danny:

I'm speaking from a conversation I had with Gary Derian, but I think the E28 and E34 boxes are interchangable. I think the Metric Mechanic site has some information on the synchro stuff.

I am in the process of searching for a transmission for my 1991 M5, my question is, what are the main differences between these 2 transmissions? is the gearing the same? would the 535i transmission bolt onto the M5? would this be a reasonable thing to do?

Also, how does the E34 M5 transmission compare to the E28 M5 transmission? I understand that the E28 has brass synchros instead of moly coated steel ones... would this be better then the E34 M5 transmission as far as reliability?

Thanx in advance
