I baselined my '91 M5 in July and did a run with the plenum valve disabled just to see. A small change in the HP curve, but a huge difference in the torque. You can feel the valve kick in and out if you lift the throttle a fraction when the revs are at ~4K.

Those readings are measured at the rear wheels. I've heard typical driveline losses are 15% or more, but these HP numbers are about 12% shy of the rated HP of 311.

I wonder if the valve can be held a bit longer and if it would fill in the dip between 3800 and 4500 rpm. Its all about increasing the "area under the curve"...
