525iT 5spd? NE1 done this? Any 525iT w/bad auto? (archive)

I'm looking for a manual tranny wagon. Not ready to spring for one of the newer ones, so am considering converting a 525iTa to 5-speed. If anyone has done this, or if you know of a 525iT with bad automatic, please let me know!
