I think they are a bit more efficient but if they are dirty or don't have any oil they are pretty useless. Too many people don't change the air filter for years at a time. OEM couldn't take the chance. Whether I am right or not I take mine out in the winter and put the stock paper one. I am up in Canada and I have heard the K&N's can freeze up...
