Buying an E34 M5 1990 (archive)

I own an E28 M535i(Euro). It has short springs, the car is deeper than a normal E34 M5. I took a ride with a very nice E34 M5, in a really good state. Rear suspension new, front suspension almost new. During the ride I felt that the front suspension is a lot "smoother" than the M535i's is.
Is it normal, does it come from the 400 pounds more?
