Burning smell after shut down (archive)

I have a burning smell coming from my 91 E-34/M5 after I turn it off. My mechanic checked this about a month ago, did not find anything leaking. The smell is still there. Any suggestions on what to direction my mechanic to look at?

It smells to me like burning oil.
