Trying to find engine for Christmas (archive)

I am trying to locate a used or new engine for my 1991 M5. I found the one on Ebay listed for $5900, but after calling the seller, he has a reserve of $8000, which he didn't put onto the listing. Bavarian Engine Exchange sells theirs for $8000 also, and Metric Mechanic sells their for $8500, but all of these prices are too high for a laid off Boeing employee. I am just looking for something at the most in the 6K range, just so I can drop it into the car, and then be able to turn around and trade the into the dealerships. Any help would be appreciated.
