or a missing cellphone jumper plug. The plug is inside the console near the handbrake handle and has three pins. IIRC, the outside two wires need to be connected. Search the E34 archives for more info as I know it has been discussed many times.

If it is a broken wire, it is most likely right at the base of the signal stalk where two small black wires pass through a grommet. I fixed one once but it was a PITA.

I have a 93 M5. The dash computer does not work with the steering mount control. It does give (door open, brake etc..) warnings but pushing the side steering control, nothing happens. I was told to hold it for more then three to four seconds but still nothing. What do you think ?????
