BMW E34 M5 - 280 Getrag Transmission - rebuild (archive)

I am the owner of a 1991 BMW E34 M5 attempting to rebuild the 280 transmission (with great difficulty being in Australia). A major problem is obtaining parts and I was wondering whether anyone would be able to assist. As an alternative, if parts or a gearbox are not to be found is there a satisfactory alternative transmission?
