In our family, we drive a 1991 M5 and a 1988 M6 every day. Both have mileage in the 40s--former garage queens.

That said, it really depends on the car and what climate you live it. I don't believe the maintanance is going to be different that your 7--maybe a little better. Parts are a little pricer than their non M cousins.

We have driven M cars daily for years--many don't, but you know what? Live is short.

Hey enthusiasts, I currently own a 1988 735i, and spend about $2500 a year in maintenance. This year I spent $4000(new trans and new headgasket and other stuff). I'm wondering how similar in maintenace costs the M5(1994) will be. And I also wanted to know how many of you current M5 owners use them as daily drivers. I plan on buying one within the next month or so, and was wondering if they make better weekend cars than daily drivers.

Thanks in advance,
Mr. H.
