The quality of the work should be commensurate with the car. Care in wiring, splicing, etc. shows attention to detail that will be beneficial should you ever sell the car. Great sound is nice, but if I see shoddy work, it makes me think twice about the care of the rest of the vehicle.

AND DON'T DRILL HOLES IN THE SHEETMETAL!! This is my biggest pet peeve. I have a dozen holes from the aftermarket alarm installation in my M5. It bugs the shit out of me to see light rust forming. The alarm didn't work when I bought the car, so out it came. Now I have to patch up the holes and make sure they never rust.
