I thought this limited production car was introduced in 1994.. The 850CSI was supposed to be basically a detuned M8.. So yes, the 850CSI should at least match or beat the E34 M5 in most performance categories..

Maybe you're confusing it with the 850ci and it's predecessor, the 635CSI??

I sold my 92 Csi last year and before that I owned a 92 M5 and I can tell you the Csi has nothing over the M5 in fact they both run the same in all categories, 0-100 kmh(mid 5s), 0-200(low 20s) kmh, standing km(24-25s), 1/4 mile performance(low 14s), top spd etc etc, show me somthing that the 850 Csi runs all over the M5, I assure that you wont. My 850Csi felt faster due to greater torque but it was not except from a rolling start.

The proper comparision would be the M5 vs the 850CSi, both //M cars. Or to not get anyone bent out of shape, both hand built cars starting with the WBS vin. In that case the CSi romps the M5 in every category. Besides, I own both and can tell you from first hand experience.
