$16K is how much I'd budget: You have these factors to consider:

* Shipping cost from Germany to USA
* Customs Duty (2.5% of purchase price) & customs fees
* DOT & EPA conversion and certification (big part of cost)
* Repairs/Tune up to prepare for EPA tests
* Transport from port of entry to home
* Registration Fees in your state of residence (usually sales Tax on purchase price)

Now, the conversion costs can vary depending on the model and if there is a "like model" sold in the US (Of course, if there is a 'Like Model' sold, why are you importing the car in the first place?) The DOT portion you probably can't avoid (US Bumpers, US Headlights & Turn Signal, CMHSL, MPH Speedo, etc)

Hello,

What is the logistical and cost implication to importing a Euro e34 from Germany to Tennessee in the USA? Where can one research this information?

Tchuess,

Brumm
