The wide-kidney cars were all 3.8L cars. The engine on the stand appears to be a museum display unit and not one that is from one of the cars. Yes, it is a 3.6L from the valve cover.

The "engine on a stand" photo is a 3.6L, not a 3.8L. The cylinder head covers are different for the two engines.
