I'm in a similar boat. Want 18" M Paras, but don't want to spend the money. The reasons I'm staying away from knock offs are:

1) Weight. (Anyone know what the difference is?)
2) Strength. I'm thinking ///M & BMW buy/build high quality pieces. I have no idea about 'the other guy'.
