Well all things being equal if you have two identical cars and one has a lower final drive then yes of course it will accelerate slighty faster while giving up top speed. As for the different in feel, there is none, I have ridden in both at full steam and you cannot tell the different. I have seen some pretty fast magazine acceleration times for 1991 North American models, 60 mph in 5.6 sec and 0-120 mph in 20.9 seconds, thats pretty fast, I doubt a 92/93 model M5 with taller gearing will improve upon that.

The final drive was made taller for '92 and '93. Is there any material difference in quater mile times or overall feel?
