Does this mean that even if the exact model was sold in Australia, you would still be able to import it if it was over 15yrs old? I was considering the M5 because it took them a couple of years to start selling them here and thought I might be able to import an early one made b4 they went on sale in Australia. I think they were released in 88 but we only got them in 90, correct me if I'm wrong?

Does the same 15 year 'no restriction' rule apply to all European and American cars ex-Japan/Hong Kong as well?

Thanks,
Mark

As far as I know you can only do it if you are living outside Oz and own the car for more than a year (as it is less than 15yrs old). If you find a car more than 15yrs old you should be able to import it. I'm a HK based car dealer !!
