From a philosophical standpoint, driving is about making the most out of each day's routine. I have used my '91 M5 as a daily driver for 2+ years (have extra set of wheels with snows mounted--as Ohio conditions would not forgive summer tires between December-March) and I absolutely love it. The visceral kick that the M cars give--in terms of exhaust note and supple suspension feel-- and acceleration as Rpm's crescendo,is beyond compare...........you must drive the M5 you're considering and lower the windows for a full throttle run in 3rd gear from 50mph to 85mph----then do the same in the E46. Granted, there is less driving 'security' without traction control, but I'd take the E34 anyday.
Hey guys, I've been looking for an E46 328 for some time and totally love the cars. However, just today I stumbled across a low mileage E34 (91-93) M5 and my resolve is definitely shot. I'm caught between wanting a slick, newer sedan and the devilish temptation only BMW M can offer. My instinct says the M will be the better car to drive and enjoy, not to mention hold its value. However, the 328 is a newer car, with greater safety innovations and perhaps better reliability/technology. I need some honest opinions from real owners, what do y'all think?
Thanks in Advance!
