I believe the B7 I played with in Bremerton was not trying that hard then. He told me that B7's run to 120 in 17 seconds while the E34 M5 in 21 seconds, this translates to a car that is indeed as you stated way, way faster. The B7 sedan also pulled a car length or so on the straights, I believe the stretch was not long enough to allow the B7 to stetch its wings and walk away.

TEKNIKS WARLD (?) got the b7 to 100kmh in 4.8. real cold air up there. my car has increased displacement, CR and boost. i estimate 360hp. but i smiled all the way home with the m5 today.

btw, THE B7 was like a dream car, your a lucky guy. The owner of he coupe told me there is an S model which is faster still. I hope you post the gtech times for both cars. I have gotten around 5.4 seconds to 60mph which reads faster than Car&Driver (5.6) and SCI (5.71).

i was thinking the same but when that turbo kicks in....but the m5 is great. and compared to the b7 it handles great and is quiet. i'll get a chip this week and get my dad's g-tech out.

Race the two before making the claim John. I was in Bremerton with Puget Sound BMW club in 1999 with my 1991 Dinan chipped M5. I rode in a B7 6'er coupe, 330 hp, it felt way faster but in reality when we were lapping my M5 which doesnt feel all that fast was more than a match for the old blue B7. Dont underestimate the M5 which is so refined it masks speed. I also ran quite easily with a 1981 turbo Alpina sedan on the same day. Much, much faster, no chance.

My 1985 Alpina B7 turbo coupe is much, much faster.
