Thought all might be interested that Getrag does not make parts for the 280 transmission anymore.

Good Morning Mr. XXXXX,

I'm sorry to hear that the BMW dealers refuse to sell parts, components or do the rebuild. We think they don't do it because of warranty problems relating to rebuild gearboxes.

Concerning the 280 transmission I have to tell you that GETRAG did produce units for long running-needs but did also sell them to BMW. This means that GETRAG doesn't have any parts for the 280 transmission left. This also means that there is no dealer for GETRAG that could obtain any parts as GETRAG doesn't have any dealer. The companies you are speaking of which sell kits and components to rebuild GETRAG transmission don't have anything to do with GETRAG. The transmissions you could buy therefrom are sold without warranty and don't garantie the GETRAG quality.
