I talked with a guy who found the proper spacers (yes spacers) to run 17 inch 275's on his track car. They still rubbed. He was pleased with the results at the track, but would not recommend them for a street car.

My 245/40R18's are on ET20 and just clear the strut, so I'd guess ET5 or ET7. Then roll the front wheel arch to clear, about 3/4 inch should do it. When you're done, the car will be a handful on uneven roads (tramline bigtime).
