you might reconsider after reading the drama you will have to endoure ! basically i attempted the same importing a 3.8L from germany to CA. in a nut shell there will be many problems with this. i looked at every type of loop-hole out there and its VERY difficult, can be done. from what i understand, even after you get the car DOT & EPA, CA looks @ grey market cars differentley then other states. it will have to get an additional carb sticker that requires mods to the carb which i think is around $2000 . it also lowers the HP to about a 3.6L ! and this is if everything goes OK. talk to Will Zaraska (search the archives for his contact info) he's got a site and i spoke to him about it when i looked into it. great guy , and knows alot about the topic. he mentioned the only way to do it is to register the car in another state, which then brings you to other isssues you have to deal with. anyway the DOT & EPA w/ everything is about $10,000 ontop of the cost of the car plus this carb sticker. very frustrating but worth it if you can get it done ! i spoke to a guy in sacramento who went through the whole process so it can be done, just a matter of patience and lots of $$$$$$, plus you'll have to sacrifice about 30HP for CA standards !
