Negative on the VANOS for the S38.

To be sure, the E39 M5 does have much greater low end torque, but if you are familiar with both cars - it is also painfully obvious that the E39 has more torque over the entire band. My butt dyno tells me that the E34 never catches the E39 even at the redline. The E39 doesn't seem to have a "sweet spot", seems like the same pull from 2K to 7K RPMs (yea I even hit the limiter once). The only detractor for the E39 was the damned DSC, this should be defaulted to the "OFF" mode. I thought that there was something wrong with the car until I found the disable switch.
