Maybe he was referring to the wood trim, and not the entire door panel?

I'll double check. I know this because one of the 91 M5s I was looking at had been 'upgraded' to the later panels (Birdseye Maple) and the owner commented that they were only about $100 each and $10 more than the regular ones.
