EDC not working (archive)

I recently took out my instrument cluster of my '93 3.8 m5 to find a rattle, and drove it without the instruments to try and locate the rattle. I noticed that the light on the EDC switch was off, that the suspension seemed to be stuck in the sport-mode, and that the steering was lighter than usual. Thinking all this was happening because I had unplugged the instrument cluster, I wasn't worried. However, now that I have plugged everything back in, nothing has changed, and the display says "EDC nicht aktiv" (EDC not active). The light on the EDC switch comes on for half a second when I turn the ignition on. The fuse under the left backseat (#35) is ok, because when I took it out, the light on the EDC switch doesn't come on at all. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? Did I maybe mess around with the wiring harness in the dash too much? Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Roger
