If you want a car that does everything that your 535i does, and in addition is able to embarrass many exotics when you want to, by all means you need an M5.

I have owned and driven them all up to and including the ubiquitous 'Red Car', and the M5 is w/o a doubt the epitome of the 'family sportscar'. Am I biased? Yup! You betcha ;>)

Maintenance-wise the M cars are not all that much more costly than regular BMW's, and far far less pricey than the aforementioned Ferrari. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Ferrari. It's just that the maintenance was expensive and real often. Why do you think there are so many low-mileage Ferrari's for sale? Yup, lotta poseurs and few real drivers, lol... Ooooh, I might catch a bit of flak on that one but I care not. I put over 11,000 on my 348ts SS in one year and immensely enjoyed each and every mile.

Sorry, didn't mean this to be a paeon to the F-car. Get yourself that M5 -- make sure it's *right* if you get my drift -- and enjoy it. I almost fell victim to sellers remorse awhile ago when I advertised mine for sale. Thank God common sense prevailed and I decided to 'freshen' it up and keep it instead ;>)
