If you are willing to risk the loss of your car and possible criminal charges, there are probably some less-than-legal alternatives. I am aware of at least two cases (neither were M5s) where bogus EPA certification stickers, highly questionable DOT compliance work, and creative importation tactics allowed essentially non-conforming vehicles to clear the process, but I wouldn't have wanted any of the end results out in my garage.
