Congratulations on joining the E34 M5 gang.

Always be on the lookout for maintainance under the hood. Never delay an inspection (extra important for valve adjustments). Frequent oil changes. Keep an eye on the little things, like that water pump, fan clutch and hoses. Get a good mechanic who services other M5s if at all possible where you are.

As long as you do these things, you'll probably find the M5 is quite durable. Apart from the motor and driveline, it's pretty much your standard E34 fare, which makes this an affordable car to run as a daily driver as long as a rigorous maintainance plan is adhered to.

Regards,

Dave McLaren

Just bought a 1991 M5 silver. Has only 50K, it's in excellent condition, no leakings, no pinging, nothing.
But I'd like to have some spare parts such as brake pads, water pumps... What spare parts should I buy? What might go wrong in a short future?
Thanks.
