I know this may sound like a stupid question for some, but I am looking at buying a 90 M5, and was wondering how to tell the difference. The car is located in Canada, and I know both do exist here. What do I look for? I've searched the M5 FAQ boards and can't find an answer. Thanks.

The 3.8 was a euro only engine made for 93-95 model years.A few made it to the states,as grey market cars.A visual cue is the location of the oil filler cap.On the 3.8 it is at the very front end of the valve cover centered on a seperate piece. On the 3.6 it sits lower directly on the valve cover a little off center.Try to access pictures from someone. The car your going to look at is likely a 3.6
