I live in Dallas and have been looking for a 91 M5 to add to the stable for a couple months now. I was also interested in this car and went to look at it on Friday. I drove the car and within 10 minutes sitting in heavy Friday lunch traffic... car began to run hot. Car ran for next ten minutes at 2 O'clock hash mark until I got it on the freeway. I then got it to my mechanic and got it up on lift. Complete oil soak all underneath the engine and tranny. After looking at cracks on two tires it appears the car has been sitting for quite some time. Motor and clutch strong otherwise - will pullaway and chirp tires from stoplight in 4th gear. Car engine, shifting, steering and clucth response is very tight and indicative of a true low mileage car albeit the problems I identified below. Also, just recently passed Texas emissions inspection.
Quick hits needs list if still interested:
Oil pan leak and possible front seal etc - major work to get oil leaks solved!
Radiator/related cooling problems - major???
New tires all around - major dry rot on 2
4 dings total - 2 qtr sized dents on hood and small ones each rear quarter
Headliner - major peelback in all four corners
Shocks a little floaty - just my .02
Both rear window regulators - do not pull window down all way and straight
Drivers seat headrest - inoperable
Also - passenger rear door reflects bondo work in past.... something more major??? Worth investigating if still interested.
Just try to help those not local! Email me if any of you want more details on this car. Got some lowdown on the dealer also with some good, some not so good.
Still want a ultra clean and mechanically tight M5
