The factory M-Parralel wheels are forged, and therefore should be VERY strong. I saw a 740i sport that had hit/scraped a curb HARD, and though a large portion of metal had been "shaved" off the lip, the wheel was still round.

I love the look of the M-Parallel wheel and think you should stick with them. I'd get a set if 18" wheels wouldn't look so ridiculous on an e28. And I'd stay away from the replicas. They are far weaker than the factory forged wheels, not to mention much heavier.
