This briefly is my problem.

My resonance flap does not work. This is the current position:

1.The actuator does not perform a self test on start up from cold.
2.I have tested the actuator: It works.
3. I have tested the vacum switch. It works
4. There is current from the control unit(positive) but none on the negative.
This is what I did:

1. I by-passed the negative coming from the control unit and created another ground, tapping up the negative from the control unit. This allows the actuator... well actuate. The problem is it does not release the actuated flap untill the engine is turned off. Leaving the flap "on" all the time.
2. What damage can I be doing by maintaining this "mod"?
3. The car feel brisker and the mid-range hole created by the non functioning resonance flap seems to have disappeared.
4. I am not sure but it seems to be usuing more fuel(I did all this today)
5. Is the the resonance flap control unit separate from the car's main electronic control unit?
6. And finally does anyone know where in the uk I could find another control unit and about how much will it cost?

So... erm ..help.
