Looking at '93 M5 3.8.
I paid $400 for leak down, compression and presale check
Bad news??? The compression is not consistant with the leak down, whats going on? Did they not correctly position the engine for the leakdown or what?
#1 - 210 6%
#2 - 190 40%
#3 - 210 30%
#4 - 210 30%
#5 - 210 30%
#6 - 210 8%
20 PSI variance. That is quite huge. Why are the leak down numbers shady? If #2 is 40% and compression is 190 fine. If #3 is 30% but with a compression of 210, but #1 and #6 are at 6% and 8% respectively also with a compression of 210 is this on inconsistant? How can a compression be the same if cylinder leakage is different? I really need help on this...I've been dying to get a 3.8 in the US, and decided I cant wait to get one imported and have it be stuck at port of Oakland. Since Im in california smog rules are tighter. Please help!!! I dont even know if this car has FMVSS paper work. The car originated out of florida. It seems shady to me at 50K. Plus carfax shows a milage of 48,xxx on Nov. 2001. But on the title it shows 47,xxx, but Date of issue is Jan 2002!!!
I understand there can be several reason like the owner write milage at the time of purchase, before title was issued, but it makes me uneasy. Help!!!!
But FYI, my 535i had 150,000 miles
compression is:
160
165
165
165
165
175
car ran strong and smooth.
