All M3s came with different front and rear bumpers so the diffuser is different. Later on during the life of E36 many cars were sold with sports package which is identical to the body kit M3s wore. M3s are based on the body shell of e36 but the rest is very different apart from some switch gear.
As regards to wider wheels the arches are the same size for all e 36 but difference is in suspension setting. The best thing is to buy the real thing rather than has replicas!!! The real thing is all about pure driving fun and the best fun you could have was E30 M3. E36 M3 was a little too civilised. There are rumours that the E46 M3 will be a true M.
: I noticed on the board that people's been saying that the M3 rear diffuser won't fit the stock 325is rear bumper. But aren't most of the E36 parts interchangable? If I could fit a set of M3 door mouldings and an M3 instrument cluster on my 325is, why wouldn't the M3 rear diffuser fit my car? What gives?
: Also, I've heard that M3s are able to wear wider tires than 325/328s, how come? Does it really come with different (wider) body panels? Or there's just something inherently different between M3s and other 6 cylinder E36s.
: Thanks in advance for clearing up my confusion.
