: Today I tried to take out my '93 318i's brain to inspect for a performance chip. I just bought the car and the previous owner said he did this mod. I removed the brackets around it(its located in the fire wall) and took it out, it was connected to a bunch of wires and was sealed shut. I decided not to open it up for fear of damaging it. I tried putting it back in and had a hell of a time doing so. I couldn't get in there as firm as it was before but its pretty secure. After all this I went to start my car and nothin, no power at all!!! I fooled around with the battery and finally got it started. After I did so I found that the radio doesn;t work anymore it just says CODE, my ABS light is on and the car feels slower, among a bunch of electronic anoyances(its not a fuse)
: I'm not sure what happened here Does anyone know how to reset everything. TIA

I have a couple of answers:

Radio: assuming it's a BMW unit. If you don't have the security code go see the dealer.

Performance: If you discinnect the battery it resets the engine management system. These basic settings remain until you have driven around a while and the ECU learns your driving style.
