Problems with foglight breaking w/75w bulbs? (archive)

I just put higher wattage foglight bulbs in. Last night one of my foglights broke. It was raining. Is it true that if cold water splashes the lens, they may crack? Am I going to have this problem more with the higher watt bulbs? I found some plastic covers that push on and fit to cover the foglight. Has anyone had experience with these covers?
