I would have the water pump replaced now. They usually don't go out until at least 60000 miles but don't take the chance. Its a $40 part and you can do it yourself and it won't be too much if you have it done either. On the other hand, if you don't do it and the pump fails, you have what happend to me. I had to have it towed and the water pump and thermostat replaced, plus not having the car for that period unplanned. Then I later found out that when it overheated because the pump went out, it cause a small crack in the radiator which grew and the radiator had to be replaced not long after that. Save yourself the extra headache and expense and have the pump replaced now before it goes. The metal impeller pump should last pretty much forever as they are not prone to failure except the plastic impeller.
