Require Advice for Removing Stickers (archive)

hmmm... i was removing my stickers from my rear windscreen last night and discovered that the stickers were:
1. very hard to remove
2. starting to harden due to the sun and was cracking.
I used the soap-water method which doesn't seemm to work.
Any advice please???
