: Which aftermarket exhausts melt the opening of the rear bumper? Will DTM style tips melt more bumper than twin-round style tips do? How about Remus' twin square? Any experience with your exhaust/bumper of your 3 series that you want to share with??

: Thanks in advance!!

I bought an Ernst after market unit with twin straight 80mm pipes. The instruction leaflet included a template for cutting the rear diffuser. However, I found I didn't need it. The pipes clear the diffuser with around 5mm of clear air either side due to the fact that they appear to be positioned lower on the muffler. There have been no signs of heat damage to any part of the body after 3 months.

As for DTM tips. In the UK I have seen a formed aluminium (I think) plate which is stuck to the rear bumper to provide heat pretection from the pipes.
