In Reply to: help, H&R Race vs. Sport - pls post experiences(m) posted by Ryan H on March 12, 2000 at 11:40:33:

: i know that the race springs are much stiffer and the ride is harsher, but by how much? i do not care about the appearance of the vehicle and how much it is visably lowered. i am also installing bilstein sports. i am interested in the best handling and ride compromise. is there any rubbing or fender rolling needed for the race springs w/ 235/40-17s? a mechanic told me that i should get bosch heavy duty shock mounts. could someone tell me about these? how about cutting bump stops?
: please post your experiences. thanks.

The H&R race springs are much better... the ride is actually not even noticeably bumpier. If you have 18" rims then you will need to get your fender rolled, but besides that, there is no real advantage to sports springs. Race springs are only slightly lower and the handling is much better.
