I put HD's in the stock suspension of my 94 325iC. It made a huge improvement and it's certainly worth the effort. The car was pretty stiff for the 1st few days, but now its just wonderful. Slightly stiffer than the stock struts but there's a major benefit to handling.
If you change the rear shocks, be sure to check the upper rear shock mounts for damage as this is a common problem.
