Blown Bilstein Sport Shock after 5 months???? (archive)

Hello all,

Has anyone ever had problems with a bilstein shock failing prematurely? I hit a pothole the other day (unavoidable) and noticed that my drivers side rear of the car seemed to "slam". After checking out the shocks, it seems as if that shock is pretty soft compared to the rest of my car. Could this be a problem with that shock or with something else on that side of the suspension? It does it all the time now even on small potholes or bumps.
