Now thats what I was looking for. Thanks Alan, the black versus grey carpet and pillars really make a subtle but very big improvement in the looks of the interior. So what I'm planning on getting is a 1996 328is, and if I got that with a black interior it would more resemble the M3 pic I posted. Am I right? Except for the steering wheel, with a black interior you wouldn't really notice the different door panels right? Thanks
: There are quite a few difference besides the obvious shifter and steering wheel/airbag. The seats are different, but don't assume that the M3 sport seats are any better. I would personally recommend getting a set of Recaros. (I hate my sport seats!) Another difference is in the door panels. The 99 M3 has the side airbags, which breaks up the monotony of the door panel. also, you'll notice that the door grab bar is in a contrasting dark gray. One last difference is that the M3 has a solid black (actually a very dark gray) headliner and pillar trims vs. the all light gray panels of the standard E36. Picture quality makes the biggest difference, though!
