Help with OBD Fault Code 1222 (archive)

My check engine light comes on....but when I back off on the gas pedal it goes off.

I am getting a single OBD fault code of 1222....which indicates that the O2 sensor is seeing emission limits either to lean/rich. BTW, the fault code for a faulty O2 sensor is 1221....and I have just recently replaced it. The OBD is showing no other fault codes (such as a problem with the DME, air mass meter, fuel injectors etc.).

So whatever is causing the to rich/lean mixture fault is outside of what the OBD monitors. 99.9% the car seems to drive normally....but once or twice during warm up the engines flattens out (no increase in rpm's /power with increase in throttle).

Any thoughts?
