I haven't repainted the rocker panels yet. I have been researching this for some time. I foubd this post :
http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/exterior/e36_respray_rocker_panels.html which lists a BMW part number for the dark grey spray paint. A call to the dealer revealed that is is discontinued. The post also mentions 'Bumper Coat' by Windsor. I have not been able to locate this product yet.
Ths dark grey paint on the driver's side is just wearing away just below the horizontal edge right above the grey paint. I plan to repaint them myself when I find the Bumper Coat or equivalent.
