This happened to my 94 325iC too. There's a microswitch in the door lock assembly that goes bad. The new part is about $30 form the dealer. It is pretty tricky to get it out. Don't even think about replacing it with out the Bentley repair manual as your guide. Even with the book, it's tricky the 1st time. Basically, you have to remove the interior door panel, then disconnect the acuating linkages (the hard part) and unplug a few cables. Then unbolt the lock assembly from the door and fannagle it out of the door (an IQ test). If you get that far, the microswitch slides out of the lock assembly and can be replaced. Then, it's just putting it all back together. Like I said, it's tricky. If you're not mechanically inclined, forget this one and pay someone who you trust. Make sure to buy exrta plastic clips that hold the door panel on to the door; these always break.
When this switch is defective, the "car" thinks the door is always closed. You may notice that the interior light may not work either.
