: I hear ya about servicing the car yourself, but what about re-sale? Mines got full BM history-I'm a mechanic by trade & I could do it meself but I don't want to lose out on the bucks when I sell It

If your car has done over 50-60k (and is over 4 years old) , I dont think it matters so much. I traded in a 318is that was 5 years old and they asked if it had history but they never checked the book. If you keep all the reciepts and inform them that you are a mechanic it looks like you have really cared for the car . Also the money you will save would easily out way the difference if there was any anyway. If you keep the car for 4 years say you could take it to BMW once in the middle of that 4 year period to get engine management software updates (if there happened to be any). Also get some mobil 1 in your engine it makes it instantly more smooth , and thats good beacuse there so smooth anyway.
