: My parents have a 1993 325is. It is a So. Calif. car (no rust anywhere) with about 50,000 miles. They are the original owners. I drove it the other day and noticed the exhaust seems really loud. Kinda like the noise the "Honda Boyz" spend money to get. While it would undoubtedly thrill the teen in his Civic, my mother is less than impressed.

: Its hard to imagine that the exhaust has rusted out, but I guess its possible (are these cars known for rusting out exhausts?).

: I have heard that there is some kind of baffle that opens at a certain RPM, and is supposed to close at lower RPM. It seems like this thing is stuck open!

: Is there any way that I can easily check/fix this?

: Any expertise will be appreciated!
