Actually, you hit the nail on the head, its really loud at low RPM under load. Sounds like new muffler time.

: I had the same problem. and I was a sucker. The guy selling the car said it was a aftermarket exhaust when it was the stock one. It sounded sooo loud at low rpms under a load. I bought a 95 m3 exhaust for 100 bucks. Thats your best bet and paid 40 to get it installed
